you guys are the given the task of creating plans for an underwater city.

how would you guys go about it? how deep would it be? how would oxygen be maintained? what materials would you use? etc etc

I'd build it on land.
I dont think you appreciate how corrosive salt water is.

We would need some sort of biomaterials, which is a far-future technology. Theorizing about how they're going to look is a pipedream as we don't even have the slightest clue as to what we would even build them with, the optimal places, or even how humanity is going to survive in the next 50 years to even begin an inkling of development on anything of this level.

Why? Why even build an underwater city?I would put the buildings underground and cover them with a 1 cm deep pool of water. This still classifies as underwater. One would just use some vents that go up above the water for air.

There's more than one challenge in making an underwater city, you can't just submerge our current way of constructing buildings underwater and say that's sufficient.

Anon this still classifies as underwater. It's a city under a shallow pool of water. The buildings aren't submerged in the water, they are under it. We could use current technology developed for pools and fountains to deal with the corrosion and keep the water clean.

There's not that much water. The city is beneath a pool 1 cm deep. You could add a sump at the bottom for the water to drain into. You could also build somewhere earthquakes don't occur.

Use fly-ash concrete with basalt fiber strands (strands coated in epoxy) to minimize sea water degradation and algae growth [1]. Fly-ash concrete has slightly more chemical resistance when compared to average grade Portland cement concrete. Try to keep the structure shallow waters as possible to prevent catastrophic failure from deep sea pressures.
