Unlike most other science channels, (its okay to be smart, scishow, etc) his videos aren't just watered down collections of facts from wikipedia wrapped in a thin veil of "omg im such a nerd science xd" reddit humour.
Instead he has an actual entertaining narrative to pull you through as he goes from topic to topic, and the knowledge he presents along the way it is a "deeper" level, not in the sense that he'll make you an expert, but he'll explain why something happens in terms that you can understand, instead of just telling you that it does happen. Plus the videos are structured in a way that expects you to have a longer than 5 minute attention span.
Shame he stopped making them, though D!NG is also pretty good sometimes.
