I went to my professor's office hour a few days before the final. The door was open but he wasn't there. I went in and saw that he had actually written the exam and it was on his desk. So I took photos of the questions, went home and looked up the answers. So long story short I ended up scoring 97% on it and he emailed me saying I cheated because my midterm was a lot lower than that...

Why would he assume cheating? I once had 50% semester average for a class and got 100% for the exam without cheating. Take harder classes. To be honest most students would still fail in advanced classes even if they had the exam questions in front of them for several months.

Cheating like writing a few equations down that you should have memorized? Nothing wrong with that. Cheating like sharing answers with other class mates? That's wrong. All exams should be open book prove me wrong

I agree with you. In my programme we have open book, full internet access, 3-6 hour exams. The only limitation is zero comminication allowed between students.

Also the pass rate is 60%, which is low for seniors imo.

Exams should be challenging. People earn degrees too easily these days without having learned any real skills.
