Is gender dysphoria a mental illness, /sci/? What is the most effective way to treat it?

From what I have seen around here, gender dysphoria is a result of fear of going through the struggle required to become a man.

Somehow these individuals see an easier life in pretending to be a girl with an easy life.

However they seem not to realise that changing from a man into a woman is not only impossible. It is a painful and torturous process from beginning to end. Emotionally and physically.

So they end up suffering anyway, losing all respect, losing their reproduction ability, losing their sexual organ and all so they can experience a couple of short years of what it is almost like to be a girl.

Tldr: Yes. It is untreatable.

No it doesn't. FtM is a very small section of the gender dysphoria phenomenon. I have only met one woman who wished to be a man.

She wanted to be a man because she was a disgusting hambeast. Life would have been much easier for her as a man.

Yes, unless it's of disfigurement/intersexuality.

Just be yourself. Drop everything that got you on the delusional tranny train. Being "pretty" and "cute" isn't appropriate for anyone, regardless of gender. Life is about development, perhaps it would be comforting to see how elders have walked through life to get a feeling of the choices they made, what regrets they have etc?
Everything is difficult in the beginning, just accept that and struggle on being yourself as you were born. Stop using drugs, listen to forced feminization ASMR and shit like that!

Why are we calling it anything other than an identity crisis? Correctly identify the problem, then we can work on an effective solution. So far there isn't one, and the people who are most behind the current surgery options etc who believe they are at the foreground of positive activism are in fact the most harmful to trans people by far.

I too believe believe this. Why is our culture becoming more and more obsessed with "cute" stuff? Why are we buying into stuffed mascots, high pitched voices, uwu, fake "cutesy" laughter and other infantilising pretention? There is a legit fetishisation of childish things and it is creeping me out. Has this always been here, the worship of youth? Some might say it's because of Jesus and the fact that he died young, but Asian cultures seem to be the ones who buy into "cuteness" the most, and they only have christian minorities.

I think it's less about wanting to become the opposite gender, and more about wanting to distance themselves from their current identity.

It needs to be established what it is they don't like about their current selves, rather than covering it up by pretending to be someone else.

Why is gender and sex considered to be 2 different things? What is the scientific explanation behind it and is it actually taken seriously? From what i understand gender is what you feel/think you are and sex is is purely biological,Wich seems very illogical to me.

Just classic redefinition of words to push an agenda. Gender now basically means personality, but by starting with a word that means sex, and linking it to discrimination based on sex they could trick people into thinking not liking someone's personality is a form of discrimination.
