I don't completely agree with either of them about "space" either. Space may not "have properties" that act upon anything, but it definitely exists in the sense that the universe must afford the ability for something to exist in a location, and a specif state. A region of space is capable of occupying finite states, and has a finite ability to transition through states. The universe must the afford the ability for something to exist, which is why you cannot exist outside the universe.
A container is logically NECESSITATED. That is space. Even if all existence is a bunch of overlapping fields, still, the chain is just moved up a link, and these fields must have something allowing them to be.
So the basic question of the universe is, is its logic self contained, or is it reliant on an external system? Is it circular, or hierarchical? So on.
No one other than me seems to care about this great truth.
