HCRT (i.e. orexin) is a small neuropeptide that is basically the perfect wakefulness promoting agent (besides maybe small molecule orexin receptor agonists, which are not commercially available). Here's an outline for you, OP:
>Isolate human genomic DNA>Isolate the HCRT gene with restriction enzymes>insert into a plasmid you've designed>transform the plasmids into yeast (NOT E. coli, since E. coli cannot splice eukaryotic genes)>wait for bacteria to multiply and produce your product>isolate orexin, dilute it into a nasal spray of ~50mcg per spray>profit Orexin will basically eliminate any feelings of sleepiness, just leaving you feeling very awake and lucid without any of the wired feeling of traditional stimulants. When you have to stay awake for a long time or don't get any sleep before a test day, take a couple doses and you'll feel like you just had the greatest sleep of your life.
There's a glut of research on it, but here's one where sleep deprived monkeys under the influence of orexin performed just as well as well rested monkeys:
