yes a sexually biological male or female can choose whatever gender identity they want. gender identity is more so a theory in pyschology which is barely a science.
there are as many gender identities as you can think of; therefore infinite. in the same way that humans can have various shades of hair color, so it doesnt really matter.
and so the same applies to gender identity, it really doesnt matter because you can change your gender identity at any given moment. please rememeber that i am not talking about sexual traits. sex chromosomes cannot be changed, and are independant from gender identity.
