>>10870710There's some algorithmic stuff and machine learning, but instead of just letting it give natural results they actively coach it to give specific results that better fit their ideological agenda in many case while simultaneously avoiding results that contradict it. It's broader than just politics and news and current events stuff too, there just mountains of random shit that has been deliberately messed with.
That's assuming that they can even train the fucking thing to do what they want. There are some known cases where they just legitimately hand picked everything because there was no way that the algo would ever give the results they wanted naturally, so they just fucking forced results themselves.
That's not even getting into search engine optimization. There are dozens if not hundreds of companies that specifically sell services where they painstakingly manipulate people's search results by gaming the way Google works to put certain results higher and lower the prevalence of what they feel are undesirable results. So even if Google themselves weren't doing it, it doesn't matter, other people would do it for them.
Not gonna go into specifics past that besides, don't want to shit up this thread any more, but suffice it to say I've seen several independent sources reporting this and have tested it myself and it's 100% a thing.
We live in a future where the biggest search engine has been deliberately made worse by it's creators because they are afraid of what people would think if they were able to find natural search results.
