Big Brain 4D Climate Chess

For a long while, it puzzled me why world leaders don't give a shit about climate change. Then the real big brain strategy hit me and now I can sleep at night (hyperbole).

So, a world-ending catastrophe is not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN, right? A CME, comet, meteor, yellowstone eruption, reversal of the magnetic poles, sunspot activity, et cetera are all inevitabilities. It's also a fact that the Earth's climate has been radically different before, so it's only a matter of time before it's radically different again.

Only, in these scenarios, we have no preventative course of action like 'reducing emissions'. By then, we will need remedial technology capable of manipulating the climate and environment in potentially drastic ways. Since technology needs time to be developed, and technology is only invented when there is pressing impetus to do so, creating a minor catastrophe such as we are in now is the perfect environment in which to develop the tech necessary for our long-term survival. Know what I mean?

Limiting dependency on finite resources is always good strategy, so obviously we want to move away from fossil fuels (nuclear is obviously the way to go to meet our current energy needs instead of littering the landscape with ugly ass windmills or chink-made solar panels which enrich a global threat). But in the meanwhile, no big deal. Sell your beachfront property. Buy property inland. Make a shit ton of money. Nothing to spill your soi over. Right?
