A differential white blood cell count just tells you the counts for each specific type of white blood cell. It can help narrow down the type of infection. If your test had differentials, it would give counts or percentages for neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, basophils, and eosinophils.
This doesn't sound like anything especially serious, but it's also not something that can be diagnosed over the internet. Since the first antibiotic wasn't very effective, the best thing would be to take a sample and culture it for identification and sensitivity testing and select a more appropriate antibiotic.
