Any anons have any ideas as to why we don't have a deep sea abyss science base similar to the ISS but underneath the ocean? I've been reading a bit on deep sea gigantism and learned that we don't really know what kinds of spooky stuff lurks around down there. I mean, the giant squid wasn't even known to exist until like 2 decades ago. Why don't we have an underwater research facility? Surely it would be easier to have an underwater base versus a space station. Sure the pressure values are inverted, so instead of having to account for internal pressure exploding outward, you have to worry about external pressure cracking the entire place like a soda can, but we could overcome that right?
And for getting resources, couldn't we just sink pressurized container down to the floor where they could be retrieved by remote drones or something? Or build an elevator to the ocean floor and just use that to carry supplies/people to and from the station?
