Longtime /b/-/tg/ lurker, never poster. Bear with me.

I noticed in high school, back in ~>'13, that building an exponential set of (N) and finding the difference between the integers inevitably established (N-1), proceeding along the same exponential increase. There's a metric shitload more patterns, but that's the most basic and obvious one.

None of my math-inclined nerd buddies in the Army or in (community) college have been able identify this, but I know I can't be the first person to recognize this. Any of y'all recognize this?

(Also, I'm admittedly probably a brainlet. I know exactly fuck-all about math, and care even less. I'm just autistically good at pattern-matching combined with multiple generations of gutter-trash awareness of coincidence.)

When you build it into a spiral, it looks like this. There's patterns along the arrows as well. Plus it functioning as an inadvertent multiplication table. Same principles hold with negative numbers, just with alternating bands of negative/positive numbers, as one would expect. I can't be the first autist to notice this. It seems like it should be basic number theory shit to me, but nobody I've shown it to has a goddamn clue.

For this one in any given row or column you're just multiplying your function by a constant value. For example in the bottom row you have the function x(n)=2^n and in the row above it you have 3*x(n)=3*2^n.

I don't really understand what you're doing in this one. It looks like you've assigned 1^n to the left "axis", 2^n to the down "axis", 3^n to the right "axis", and 4^n to the up "axis", and combining them like you did before, but what's up with the zeros?

Look, man, I may not actually be retarded but I don't speak math. I derived that using the process in my second post while doodling in HS. I kinda get what you're saying there, but not really. You're gonna have to use monosyllabic words.

As for the second point, I rotated the subtraction function by 90 degrees with every cardinal direction. I'm afraid I ain't explaining this quite well, but like I said, I don't speak math. You can use the same exponent subtraction thing with any positive integer to get the exponential integer down to 1, at which point 1-1=0, so... zeroes from there on out. Imagine the spiral starts at 1-4-16 etc, then moves to 1-3-9, then 1-2-4, then 1-1-1

I still have no idea what you're getting at with the second one though, can you try explaining it again? Maybe draw me a picture. Also why don't negative exponents crop up after zero?

I guess you would end up with negative exponents with the diamond, I just never actually built it out that far. The diamond is the same subtraction principle rotated 90 degrees along the cardinal axes, a simple way of showing various derivations of the triangle without actually building individual triangles. I'm sorry if I'm explaining this like shit, it's kind of like trying to explain the color blue when you're blind. I can recognize the pattern I see, just not describe it eloquently.

N(x,y)=(2^x)(3^y)

This function, which I called N, generates your table. It accepts the x and y value from the position on the table as inputs and outputs the value for that position. A regular multiplication table would use the function M(x,y)=x*y. If we define a function for a couple rows and columns then you should understand why you're seeing those patterns. R will be functions that define rows and C will be for columns and the number will denote which row or column

M(x,0)=R0(x)=2^x
M(x,1)=R1(x)=(2^x)(3^1)=3(2^x)
M(x,2)=R2(x)=(2^x)(3^2)=9(2^x)

M(0,y)=C0(x)=(3^y)=(3^y)
M(1,y)=C1(x)=(2^1)(3^y)=2(3^y)
M(2,y)=C2(x)=(2^2)(3^y)=4(3^y)

Notice that for both the rows and columns you have some constant number multiplied by your function for the bottom row (R0) or left column (C0)
