Can you self study chemistry?

I graduated college and realized I want to go back to school to become a chemist (for reasons I will not disclose nor think is at all pertinent).

Would it be better to pursue a masters degree' whilst self studying for the chemistry GRE and chemistry in general? Or, pursue another bachelors and go from there?

Im a philosophy graduate. When I was pursuing engineering and took classes in chemistry, I did pretty well so i dont think Im a complete retard in capable of learning.
