>>10849759It's probably doable. It isn't done because:
1. we've never done it before, so the risks are huge. We've learned a lot about asteroids in the last year or two from two missions to asteroids.
2. there's no market currently in space
3. doing stuff in space has been and is still incredibly expensive. Humans are expensive in space because they need air, food, etc and have to come home. In addition they still can't do much because spacesuits limit mobility. Space walks take forever. No spandex suits won't magically fix this problem. Robots are getting better though and some capabilities need for space industrialization have been demonstrated in space.
