since you have less bowel movements in your sleep even though the food you consumed just before does get digested and your body obtains nutrients from it, it does not get compressed a lot and it doesnt move through your lower bowels.
when you wake up and your bowels start to work all the pre-digested food rushes through them and you have a big shit. your stomache and upper bowels are still a bit stretched from all the food and the sudden leaving of so much matter creates a slight vaccum that you feel as a stinging hunger.
If you eat something, the under pressured bowels are pressured again and the hunger stops.
If you dont eat before sleeping your stomach is shrinkled and tiny and only after folding it up by drinking liquid (especially warm) will you start to feel the hunger.
