That's pretty much it, instead of using your fight or flight response to run away, do the opposite and get hyped to talk to people and think about the friends you'll make along the way. You just force yourself to do the opposite of what you're thinking because if someone doesn't like you you're on the same position you started with, no friends, but at the same time the probability of meeting someone increases and is non zero at least
