This is basic stuff, I understand fractions, I just cannot get the answer of 15 & 23/25 the answer sheet is giving me, before I move on and accept that the answer is wrong, I must know from you.

just do (((9*20)+3)/20 + 4/20)
then flip the denominator
(((9*20)+3)/20 + 4/20) * (8/5)
you'll get 398/25

then you can do remainder division
to get 15 R 23. in fractions thats 15 + 23/25

keep practicing! do every damn problem you can find. good luck

Correct. This is why I hate mixed fractions. The first element in the numerator should read "nine and three fourths" not "nine times three fourths".

4. (199/20) / 5/8
To divide by a fraction, multiply by the reciprocal.
5. (199/20) * (8/5)
5a. 199 * 8 = 1592
5b. 20 * 5 = 100
5c. (199/20) * (8/5) = 1592/100
6. 1592/100 = 15 92/100
Simplify to 15 23/25

I'm not in my 20s so maybe I never learned mixed fractions and I've certainly never seen them used in an algebraic equation. It looked like implied multiplication to me. If someone used this in my lab I'd fire them on the spot rather than risking someone or something being damaged down the road due to confusion
