OP, Carbon Dioxide is a well known greenhouse gas and has been well known for 130 years. Increasing it in the atmosphere will cause a rise in temperature. This cannot be debated against. It simply is what it is. Normally long term temperature trends are dictated by the distance of the Earth from the Sun at various times of the year, the tilt of the Earth, and the obliquity of its orbit, something called the Millankovich Cycle. Or changes in Solar output. Changes in longterm temperature trends cause more or less carbon dioxide to leave the oceans because cold water holds more carbon dioxide than warm water, which causes further heating of the atmosphere. Because again, Carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas and this cannot be debated against.
That's normal circumstances. Today we're burning coal and oil which is releasing carbon into the atmosphere that is not part of the normal cycle and causing warming directly. We know it's not natural because while the temperature is rising MORE CO2 is being dissolved into the oceans because the normal balance has been upset.
It's that simple.
