The beautiful thing about mathematics, past what we already know, is that vast and vast abstractions are necessary to intuit what it means and what the next step is. For machines to operate at this level, it is not possible right now, they can outperform us but only in lower levels of that structure, where humans have already broken ground and processed it and programmed specific solutions. For machines to do valuable work at the cutting edge, they would have to already have transcended us.
