Only time will tell. While this may have always been the 'human nature', historically, women have had much less to say about selecting their partner than nowdays.
I personally believe this to be a perfect illustration to the whatever it was called theory, by which, men exhibit more variation and women are more likely to be average.
So it's not men who don't have standards, but most women literally are 'average'
while men, with their wall to wall attributes, will have much less of a chance to have all their traits fall within the scope of 'acceptable', from the perspective of an average woman.
On the other hand, these graphs are based on people rating social media profiles and it doesn't count in any social interaction between the parties, which I believe to be an important factor in real life. at least for forming longer term relationships and something in which I would think men rate women much harsher.
Makes me wonder, if there's a similar study, but instead based on rating people of opposite sex by 15 minutes of conversation, without knowing who they're talking to, because I feel like, at least the females, would fair much worse.
Then again, as more people find each other through social media, it's not a miracle to see studies suggesting young people, especially males, are having less and less sex and we're basically going through one of the biggest social change in the history of mankind.
