>>10840598probably because we walk upright. our entire respiratory system is different from quadrupeds and knuckle walkers, that’s why humans are so susceptible to upper respiratory colds but cats and dogs hardly ever get sniffles and sore throats. i would guess that the shape of a human nose is maybe because the openings pointing down is good if as a biped it’s not as easy to just point your forward facing nose down, e.g. when it’s raining and water is getting in there
