Here is why base 10 is superior: Imagine trying to recognize an irrational number in base 2. All you have to go off of is a very long string of pattern in 1 and 0. The magnitude of your number now requires much more information to encode, and it is therefore much harder to see that the decimal expansion is not terminating or repeating. Simply try to do long division in base 2. What a pain in the ass. Of course, this is just my expert opinion, which I have, since I am a mathematician with a BMC (big math cock) and you don't

There's some stuff about easier to write fractions out in some bases rather than others because they have fewer or less complicated repeating digits. Other than that, overall bases are just an arbitrary standard. That doesn't make choosing a base invalid nor pointless though, standards exist for a reason.

I'll always have a soft spot for hexadecimal though. I like powers of 2 and hexadecimal is perhaps the most used power of 2 base right after binary. Although its more human friendly than binary.

You mean the best radix (which it still isn't, but that's what you meant). Binary isn't good at all for counting, but it's the second most efficient integer radix.
Ternary is actually a more efficient integer radix than binary.
Base e is the most efficient radix in general.
Base ? and Base ? have some advantages outside of the consideration of radix economy.

tau or pis is irrelevant for anyone beyond entry level university mathematicians because you quickly learn that if you want to use tau, just write tau := 2pi.
It does make a difference for teaching mathematics in high school though, because that extra substitution or that extra factor of 2 can make things different for people domt have an easy time manipulating algebraic expressions.

Actually, if you substitute, Tau for Pi in the famous Euler's formula, and then -1 changes to 1 (or vice versa, depending on how you write it), you lose the implications to complixification and spectral theory, so Pi is the superior choice because it makes the formula stronger. The only argument for Tau is it means you make some formulas shorter by 1 constant, which is really dumb and irrelevant to anybody who understands the formulas. Also, historically, the ancient greeks said PI was the sum of angles in a triangle, and were interested in finding the angle measure of a circle in relation to that, not the other way around.

Tau is 2pi. It has been suggested as a "replacement" to the pi constant in mathematics education, mostly due to 2pi showing up very often in elementary trigonometry.

This, of course, is at best a pointless exercise (oh wow some formulas have less 2's in them. Thanks teacher, now I suddenly understand them!) and at worst actively harmful for further mathematical education, since pi shows up without the 2 in many contexts outside trig.

I personally bet on this just being a waste of time.
