In some ways yes, in some ways no. My biggest gripe is that you cannot obtain concentrated nitric acid, we need more than 60% to make nital, from a cave. Bat gauno does contain potassium nitrate from which nitric acid could be produced though. The electrolytic production of sodium hydroxide requires that a membrane be placed between the wires, you can't just dunk them in. Although they sort of admit this later in the manga. That being said, there is no reason to produce sodium hydroxide electrolytically, especially since they literally make lye for soap early on! Thus the whole arc with making a generator is pointless.

It's quite amazing how quickly a forest can reclaim unoccupied land.
Japan is prone to earth quakes. Buildings collapse, tree roots rip apart road ways. Plants grow around and over everything, burring them in decayed plant matter.

Just look at South America. It's only been a few hundred years and their entire civilization is literally buried in a jungle. They had cities, open pastures, and complex road systems that are all erased from this earth by plant life, never to be seen again.

now that you mention it, wasn't Senku on the second floor of the school building looking out the window when he got turned to stone? How did he not shatter when the building collapsed?

And he said he woke up cause he was in a cave with bat guano. Except the bat guano cave was a LONG distance away from the camphor tree which was at the school where all 3 main characters got turned to stone. I can understand Senku moving Taiju to the bat cave, but how did Senku get in the bat cave (which is a great distance from his starting point, 2nd floor of the school) in the first place?

the things made yes to a degree. the gunpowder reaction not exactly it was really powerful for something that wasnt actually contained fully

also i think its interesting that sugar is left out of the standard gunpowder recipe but in the manga. alternately im shocked that it wasnt a ammonium nitrate substitute since its easier to make vs salt peter aka potassium nitrate and the character even said it was a pain in the ass to make or that he didnt just try to make a simpler sulfur based charge for a simple gun like how prisoners use match heads since they cant get gun powder

They were all moved from their original places because of a flood from the collapse of a dam. I don't know if that is shown in the anime, but it's in the first chapter of the manga.

In places like Japan that are regularly hit by earthquakes and tsunamis, yeah. Much of the planet would be reclaimed by the Earth.
Some parts of the world might have very visible signs of humanity, but in a lot of places you'd have to look really hard to find any sign we were ever there.

The real question is how are absolutely all the stone people not utterly shattered by the events that reshaped the land and how do any wildlife still exist if even the birds were turned to stone. That said, honestly it would make a lot more sense if it was 30 million years instead of 3000 and the stone people were described as somehow only able to be killed by human action and would magically resist all other damage.

Or maybe the stones become weakened over time, which is what allowed for the nitric acid to dissolve them, but also makes them more brittle and prone to breaking

Yes it is. Most chemical processes they did are true. Also the explanation of the chemicals are also true. The only thing that they kinda (ignored) are the Chemical kinetics for the reactions. But that's probably because it's a manga so they have to look out for the pacing.

really? That's quite interesting, but why? did they NEED bricks and forget how to make them? or did they believe superior brick technology were works of the devil they needed to be eradicated? I wouldn't put it past them. I know they cut the arms off of any statue that dared to have short sleeves and show a little skin.

The sulfanilamide synthesis is pretty accurate. Still though, there are better ways to obtain sodium hydroxide than electrolysis and obtaining sulfuric acid from hotsprings is pretty fucking nuts. The anime is pretty fucked up for censoring the ratios to make gun powder.

The science seems solid.
But it plays fast and loose with economics and manufacturing process. The manga hand waves fact that in hunter-gatherer society, it would be impossible to find time and resources to build Senku's inventions. Also, lots of reactions need purification steps and specialized hardware, which is either not shown or explained by having "genius craftsman" on the team.
The whole story stands on the old man who is able to miraculously craft almost anything Senku dreams of. Remove him, and the story crashes down.
