>>10839407For a high school level not falling prey to ponzi schemes deserves its own dedicated class.
Family and career planning, investment diversification, basic accounting for running a small business, intrest rates, rebalancing a portfolio, the rule of 72, net present values, annuities, yields, insurance, common tax avoidance strategies and deductions and basic corporate financing are sadly too far removed from algebra for the average person to be taught the basic math and deduce the rest.
Not only does it have to be learned sometimes, it ALWAYS has to be learned as every adult deals with money, taxes and retirement and the need to align thier worth with a financially-oriented audience. It is not that hard to get a working knowledge, it's easily withing grasp of high schoolers. The cost to society of having a financially naive populace would be far larger than the cost of proper education.
