Do the Fibonacci numbers mean anything actually significate or is a bunch of schizos trying to hype it up as some type of mathmatical mysticism?

It has interesting properties, but it's because it's an additive generative sequence. When you don't know much about math or the sciences, everything's magic I guess.

it has some significance because of its reappearance all over nature (no matter whether one looks at the microscopic or the macroscopic level). it's not really clear why they are found in that many places so they are important for nature philosophy.
take the cosmos for example. in pic related, you can see the planetary constellation of the earth and venus (green line) over a period of 8 years (the star/flower thing with 5 spikes/petals). why does it give such a perfectly symmetrical pattern (which reappears in nature for example as a flower)? also the name cosmos comes from greek and means "order".
could be something greater about it, until we don't know any more we can just see how often we see the fibonacci numbers occuring in nature

Math community don't care fibonacci number, even Catalan number gets a lot more research in combinatorics.

clearly it's an orbit around the sun, nobody doubts that. the interesting thing is that (as stated above) if you watch the constellation between earth and venus for 8 years, you get what you see in the picture

Just because some flowers grow in a Fibonacci pattern and that orbit looks like a flower doesn't mean the orbit has a connection to the Fibonacci sequence -- no more than flour does. Is baking also mystical Fibonacci woo?

That has nothing to do with fibonacci numbers. It's more closely related to spirographs than any number sequence. It's just a coordinate transformation in which you place the center on earth rather than the sun.

It (sort of) represents growth/reproduction patterns.

Let's say you have 1 couple of young rabbits. Each month a couple of young rabbits becomes adult, and each already adult couple reproduces and a new young couple is born.

First month: 1 young couple (1)
Second month: 1 new adult couple (1)
Third month: 1 already adult + 1 young (2)
Fourth month: 1 already adult + 1 new adult + 1 young (3)
Fifth month: 2 already adult + 1 new adult + 2 young (5)
Sixth month: 3 already adult + 2 new adult + 3 young (8)
Etc.

It has many interesting properties, and it has been known to sort of appear in nature. It doesn't "mean anything" because it's just a sequence and therefore has no "meaning".

Its only found in nature often because its representative of strong biological structures. 1 added to 1 makes 2 and 1 to 2 makes 3 and the higher you go, the strong a structure will be. Nature isn't coded to work in regards to the sequence but it just makes sense biologically.
