For the most part many political groups spent their entire time trying to find the oldest trees in the world to cut them down or process them for their ancient resin so as to trick carbon dating. I’d say other parts of North Africa were as enlightened if not more. But they lived in greater chaos. Buildings were torn etc. Egypt was preserved by sand dunes. They are partial to that region of the world because the Jewish population from the Balkans descend from that region. Not to talk down on it but I’m in love with it as well. And they helped usher in western academia that had a more Maghreb/Spanish/Senegal influence towards education of the Levant, Egypt and Anatolia that had just as much influence but at one point was the lesser focus in the west. People teach their own history. The west didn’t care about Jerusalem or Israel because in their religious studies it was hell. Jerusalem or Israel was never meant to be glorified again. It’s their trail of tears. So now most information from North Africa and west Africa is completely omitted and we focus more on Egypt in studies.
