cons: it's take more fuel to carry supercharged batteries, an elevator has to be precise unless you have multiple around the globe, rechargeable batteries will weaken overtime thus making it obsolete and mass producing it will take energy.
what I think is better is to emit strong electromagnetic energy from a power plant afar, the electromagnetic energy will be converted into electricity in an antenna.
so what do we need?
a big fucking generator able to regulate and store the energy at daytime,and the antennas will reach borderline stratosphere.
