At one point later in undergrad, I asked a professor if she had a preference for citation style in submitted work. She gave a good answer: "No, it doesn't matter as long as it's internally consistent." No one who matters actually cares as long as the information is formatted neatly and is easily discerned in a rapid manner - author, title, journal name, publisher, date, page numbers/title of relevant section.
