western culture has sanitized this away and we eat chicken sandwiches and pulled pork platters (mind you, pigs are much smarter than rats) with morality not entering our thoughts at all. because we like the pleasure without any of the requisite struggle. as long as the capitalist system is working you can delegate the moral issues to other people, or big factory slaughterhouses
anyhow i say this as a staunch meat-eater. not trying to be a vegan here. but you need to come to terms with the implications of what you are doing. rats can be killed, that's fine, we as humans have that as a sad but necessary duty in life. and animal rights activists can suck it up, who gives a fuck about rats. not me.
