Given the exponential growth of tech we can really be there in 5 years, but it just seems overly optimistic to me. Its like a gut feeling more than anything else.
As for the prices going down - they improve methods and scale up the production. Now they are at version lets say 0,9 - very close to the version they can sell to the public, but still a prototype and they are making it in a sort of a workshop. When they reach version 5.5 and there will be a few factories making them, the price can be like 1/10th of what it is now. Also, onc e there will be more companies doing it, the compatition will drive the price even lower.
