How do you teach yourself Logic? What books are best?
My university sucks at teaching it despite being top 20 in California.

Read rudimentary "base line" books/articles about logic where you are starting from scratch.

Truth tables/how to make proper arguments/avoid fallacies is what helps. Thats how I got started with learning formal logic while I was a kid.

Learning about induction/deduction is a starter as well

1) All mammals have breasts
2) Cow is a mammal
C) Cows have breasts

2) Mammals have breasts (alternatively birds could have breasts, and the conclusion would be wrong)

Discrete maths books usually have some good intro to logic basics.
Also, first chapter of Introduction to Automata Theory had a good overview of different kinds of proof techniques.

learn the basic fallacies and read a little plato first. that is like t-ball and sentential logic is like the real thing. if you're struggling with logic, it is your own fault. if you don't get it and struggle with the lessons, unfortunately you're just stupid. there is no metaphor to explain it and no heuristic to make it mechanical. the truth is though you can master it no matter how stupid you are. whether you know it or not, your brain is already operating under the rules of logic and you just need to realize what is going on.
