On the other hand everything about it is very very realistic. Every part of it is technically within our technological capability to build. It’s getting major funding through NASA and the organization leading most of the research, princeton plasma physics laboratory, is not some hack in his basement getting (((results))) that are just small numbers within error bars (every test to-date has EXCEEDED theoretical output). And unlike VASIMR or Z-pinch it has way more pros than it does cons and doesn’t require some huge ass jump in theoretical technology to make it work.
That being said it is still not anywhere close to being reality but this is pretty much just due to limited funding and no one outside of a few autists knowing or caring about it
