especially during enlightenment, western thinkers struggled a lot with reconciling christian belief and science. some became deists, some formed their own versions and others became atheist. i'd say all christian scientists today don't believe the flat earth is 6000 years old, why they still believe when god's word is clearly wrong is a mystery for me
