i just don't see why the orbit would stabilize instead of continuing to get smaller. if it's because the fragments are small enough that they bounce on the athmosphere or something else they should have mention it, it's like they eneded the video 5 minutes too early

Orbits continuing to get smaller is not something which can happen naturally in the first place. Maybe they didn't consider applying the same force which made the moon's orbit smaller to the individual fragments too.
