I majored in Chemistry and Biochemistry, I studied my ass off, ruined the curve on every exam, got 512 on the MCAT, but honestly the more I went through college the more I couldn't stand the people who just complain and complain, the "research" professors do that never impact the real world at all, and how everything I learned felt completely to creating something in the real world.
I work for an IT company now and have just been saving money, thinking of potential business opportunities and enjoying an easy fun life. I definitely enjoyed college and met some nice people, but I studied my ass off and learned so much and it feels like I can not create anything with the knowledge of the periodic table, metabolic processes, proteins and their structure, reaction mechanisms, and even the basics of physics.
I think the only benefit of college is if you want to go to higher education, but then I don't think you'll ever exist in the real world. MD's make good money but I'm pretty sure their family life is fucked, same with lawyers, and people with PhD's get stuck into one small area of research and can sometimes create profitable business by getting investors since they have a PhD, or they get stuck teaching the same courses to nimwits or spoiled brats every year, with the exception of one or two quality students.
