>>14174929It's an immuno-suppressant as well as an anti-parasitic. When one of the things killing people is a "Cytokine Storm" (an overactive immune response) then it makes logical sense to use an immuno-suppressant to attempt to stop it.
Now, I'd like to see more data on Ivermectin, because some trials show little positive effect, some show none, and then the above one shows a positive effect.
And if it's being used on people who might die otherwise, then throwing a hail mary like immune system suppression is a pretty normal medical response.
All that said, I'm still skeptical of Ivermectin providing large benefits when compared to the downsides of suppressing immune function, especially in a hospital setting where things like pneumonia are common.
