My advisor called me into his office to politely "scold" me for the tone I use in my emails to the chairman of the math department.
I have nothing but respect for my advisor, but the chairman is a rude manlet who's trying to be a dictator. Literally heard him shouting in his office and shit-talking the previous chairman (who I have nothing but respect for and has always helped his students). At his best when he's in a good mood, the current chairman will make fun of his students as a "joke".
In previous years, he yelled (actual angry shouting) at students during their graduation ceremonies, telling them to sit down, because they stood up to wave to their families.
