>>13747155Well the definition of being an astro/cosmo/whatevernaut is going to space, and the definition of space is either 50 miles or 100 km depending on who you ask, so yes, if you go above that for 2 min and do nothing that makes you an astronaut. After all, the earliest people in space also did absolutely nothing and just went up and down, and it's never been a requirement to get into orbit in order to count as "being in space".
True, it's underwhelming when in the 2020s we reach the same kind of "achievement" as was used in the very very first manned spaceflights a half-century ago, but that doesn't change the definition. Same as building a shitty homemade prop plane out of wood and flying 100 feet up to mimic the Wright Brothers, yeah it's kinda lame but it's still flight.
