Von Braun never grew up around Blacks and only ever interacted with top Blacks. Something Von Braun wouldn't have been allowed to speak on was that this was likely bi-directional - both Black and White US prisoners of war in Germany refused to sit with each other or even eat at the same time, which confused the Germans as they were both fighting for the same country.
