Anyone here ever actually worked at or with IBM? Tech side is a bunch of fucking poo in the loos that wrote enough shitty ML Medium articles to get recognized but not good enough to land at Microsoft, the premier landing zone for Indian immigrants. The consulting side is like a worse Accenture, which is already the poor man's MBB.

I am however impressed with their investment into Quantum Computing. As much of a meme it is, the possible applications speak for themselves and I think it will be huge down the line. First big firm I've heard of taking more than baby steps in quantum physics research.

It isnt going to be a single point, but it i isnt spread uniformly across the entire universe. Basically, if you put a atom inside a small glass vial, you know for sure the atom is located inside that vial, it isnt magically spread anywhere else, and practically speaking you can pinpoint where atoms are located with an uncertainty much lower than 1 micron. For free photons or electrons is different, as their spatial coherence could reach several meters in length.

Electrons have a wavefunction which is spread out. This is the spatial coherence and it is functionally the same as the "position" when the distribution is tight and localized in a very small region (say, less than a micron). For the case of free photons and electrons it can however be as big as several meters.
