>>13654340Do you not understand that car makers can't make cars instantly? He literally just explained to you that even if car makers would do nothing but make electric cars it would still take 40 years for the cars on the road to actually be electric.
>>13654755You can also make hydrocarbon fuels which are more practical than hydrogen for consumer level applications since you can use existing infrastructure and gasoline can be stored in tank that leaks in places while hydrogen requires extensive containment and it still diffuses trough the walls like they aren't even there.
>>13654609The reason that isn't a practical solution for the masses is because electric cars are simply more efficient. Artificial fuels will always be more expensive than just using the power that comes from the socket directly. There is a big niche for them though since when solar is overbuilt there will be peak daylight hours where electricity is very cheap and available that can be used for e-fuel manufacture, which then can be used on applications where battery power isn't optimal like trucking or shipping as those can easily benefit from a centralized e-fuel refinery.
Obviously using a power plant to carbon capture and then trying to use that fuel in a power plant is also extremely retarded outside of very niche power transferring (like to Antarctica)
