He's right in some aspects though. But speaking as someone working in the pharma industry it's pretty hard to be vitamin deficient as long as you have a normal diet. Statistics we gathered show that hardly any Danish people were vitamin deficient barring genetic factors or pathological factors (Except vitamin D, 60% were vitamin D deficient at some point in one year)
So yeah, get a broad spectrum blood test and have someone interpret it for you OP. That should identify if you have any conditions that hinder vitamin absorbance or reduce the efficacy of metabolic vitamin-dependant functions. If it's green across the board you don't need to care about it, just eat normally, taking more vitamins than your body uses have no positive effect. Oh and probably vitamin D supplements, though there's no substitute for genuine sunlight. The psychological effect of sunlight exposure a bigger health contributed than many vitamins.
Oh yeah, and lemon juice to combat scurvy.
