>>13457564Yeah I guess my answer was more an applied science/engineering.
Think that a better answer for a basic science would be artificial intelligence then. Will lead to better understandings of human intelligence as well, and how to quantify intelligence in general. Self-driving car research has a nice side-effect in pushing this. Companies working in the space have theorized that mouse-level intelligence (lol) is needed for level-5 self driving, but honestly those are just hand-wavy statements at this point. Nobody knows the correct way to quantifiably test for intelligence in machines, but that is some cool research going on right now. Once we have better ways to quantify that in machines, that will help us better understand ourselves.
Honestly all the low-hanging fruit like electricity might be gone. Fusion energy would revolutionize shit again I guess?
A lot of our problems and systems now are just so complex that being able to make breakthroughs seems tough. Might need multiple generations of Einstein's to make the next electricity.
I mean honestly who knows, Electricity blindsided everyone of the past, the internet did as well.
