The runaway climate change is now in place, from climate simulations the only liveable nations will be Europe, North America, Russia, a piece of Australia and maybe a piece of south pole.
There won't be enough land or water for everybody, the development of renewable and sustainable energy/industry is with that in mind, to preserve those areas and to make them liveable for those who are there.
Mark my words, the influx of refugees and immigrants is the last "free for all" meal before the borders get shut when the situation becomes really untenable.
It will be a dystopian future.
