The men of yore seem like a better strain to be. Even in looks, a lot of the men in Versailles portraits, or before that medieval are surprisingly androgynous/twinkish despite being very competent soldiers and or scholars so maybe the bald, bearded man baby is a modern creature and ‘strong female lead’ is actually an archetype drawn from men.
