Even if Red was an actual boy Bunny would still be more popular and, dare I say it, superior. If Butters was a girl it would be like Kenny/Kelly, but cuter because it's Butters. And if Kenny was a girl it would be like Butters/Lexus but more wholesome, because Kenny actually gives a fuck even if he wishes he didn't. And there are so many little moments between them throughout the series, boy!Red would have to be a helluva chad to suddenly steal Kenny's thunder. Even Bradley doesn't get as much love despite him and Butters canonically like-liking each other a lot-lot.
Not trying to be petty, it's not like I care if people post Stenny or Buttman or whatever, but it's weird to keep talking about females here when you have the /co/ threads for that (and I say that as someone who has an SP femslash folder alongside my Bunny folder)
