The fact that religion has been so widespread, and that simply not believing in it has historically been so suppressed, certainly does not paint humanity in a very favorable light. Abrahamic religions are especially egregious in their moralism. They condemn the love of boys because they want everyone to lead the same mediocre lives, aspiring only to reproduction, obedience to a higher being, and adherence to the herd.
That being said, choirboys are very sexy. Possibly the only good thing to have ever come out of an Abrahamic religion.
