I love the the OP pic because Creighton is so rugged and vicious but also seems like he can be a sweetheart, so seeing him taking care of an animal really shows his warm side, being a chicken on top of that is even more cute because they're so underrated most people wouldn't even consider them a "pettable" animal and this shows that this side of his goes beyond "I like cats and doggos" like he's actually connecting with someone else, and makes me feel like he's less lonely. Yeah I really like this pic, also it reminds me of a fic of his.

personally I think cuteness comes from downtime in-between the plot?
like imagine an action hero taking a break and eating a sandwich or something like it's goofy on it's own, but if you make it look like they're cozy then it's kinda cute right?
or go the embarrassed route of wearing exposing clothes and being insecure which is cute for a less tangible reason to me.
for technique wise it all depends on the source material. if you're drawing an adult man an anime oriented art style with big ol eyes ain't great, a style with pastel soft colors and a more filled out stature would fit better.
of course cute things like bows, cat ears, or the like adds cute points.
tdlr just think mundane things with bright colors

I just came to this thread to say that I agree with you so much. It's a beautiful pic and Creighton is an amazing boy. I also agree on the animal part, cats are pretty much a first world meme now (just see >>3279321) so seeing him emotionally invested in a less glorified animal really shows that person has a special sensitivity towards others and a lot of affection to give, even if he seems cold on the outside.
