>>3279890>some depth to him behind his anticsThis is definitely what I'm missing by stopping at Mihotose, though I suppose the disconnect I had made me lose focus so I wouldn't have noticed. Sengo and Chiyo's artist has some pretty awful proportion issues but the designs themselves are good and they get plenty of fanart to confirm that. I don't really notice the arms/chest during battles at this point.
>>3279892You guys are the only swordfags I get to speak to, so maybe I'm totally wrong here, but Sengo in game is never sexual intentionally. It's a gag on demonic blades enticing people into unsheathing and wielding them, what he's saying made perfect sense to him as a sword that wanted to be drawn, but with a human body it suddenly comes across far worse and he doesn't get why saniwa is put off. Half of the joke is him not being self aware, and though his kiwame starts playing with it more knowingly it's still kept ambiguous what he thinks it means (aside from when he describes it in sword terms). Myu Sengo still brought up his reputation plenty and I can't say his strip comments were trying to be kinky since they're about same, but the fanservicey gestures are way more obvious. What part of a sword are you licking, Sengo? What does it mean?
That wasn't what bothered me though. I know we're not going to get a perfect Suwabe replacement voice, but the delivery of lines was my issue. Sengo is a smooth talking collected individual who still takes time to purr his lines even when he's getting excited. Myu Sengo is constantly moving and talking quickly, he can't speak a sentence without six camp gestures and a few punchy intonations. There's a different, more active energy to it that doesn't feel like mellow ol' Sengo and it took away what appealed to me. When people make him cutesy in fanart I still imagine he has the same speech patterns and it's extra gap moe.
