>>3190833It's a weird clusterfuck. The author is clearly good - her style is engaging, she can write romantic tension really well and the characters are generally fun. But holy hell is it Diversity Central. The main characters are a gay kid who got emotionally and sometimes physically abused by his dad, a black adopted kid with a hidden disability, and a girl. The book keeps lecturing the abused gay kid on his insensitivity and how he doesn't know how good he has it because he's ~white~, ~male~ and ~rich~ (even though all of them are rich).
I dropped the book 40 pages before the ending when [spoiler:lit]the gay abused kid who has hated his dad and his life all book and the entire plot revolved around him being impulsive as hell, while drunk and horny, refused to elope with his lover because the author needed to have the black kid lecture him about privilege again.
